We are currently witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in innovation within the health sciences. This surge is driven by the convergence and emergence of new technologies, novel concepts, and developments. These include the creation of therapies to enhance cognition in cases of cognitive impairment, the processing of vast amounts of data, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI).
These advancements are set to expedite research in health sciences, offering new solutions that not only enhance our understanding and analysis of human behavior—a key focus of the behavioral sciences—but also elucidate the neural mechanisms underlying information processing, perception, learning, and memory, which fall under the purview of Psychology. These innovations give rise to new experimental hypotheses in both fields and intervention strategies at both basic and clinical levels. Ultimately, they contribute to improving quality of life through advances in understanding various psychological and behavioral disorders, as well as the increasingly prevalent associated neurodegenerative processes.
Health research plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. It is impossible to separate a country's socioeconomic and cultural development from its advancements in health and their application in addressing health issues. The Behavioral Sciences and Psychology Program embodies this interest and paves the way for the training of our doctoral students.
The criteria for admission to the Doctoral program are detailed in the following section. These criteria are established by law, and any candidate who fulfills these criteria is legally eligible for the program. However, we have also defined a recommended access profile that aligns with the priority research areas of the program.

The progressive development and specialization offered by this doctoral program significantly enhance students' research qualifications. It focuses them on pioneering areas of study and boosts their performance in terms of projects, publications, and contributions to conferences and academic sessions. This, in turn, contributes to the advancement and enrichment of knowledge in their respective disciplines.
Currently, doctoral students associated with this program are being trained to meet the challenges of multidisciplinary knowledge across various health disciplines. These students are equipped to offer their knowledge, skills, and competences from unique perspectives to address the health and well-being challenges that society faces today. This is why we firmly believe in the relevance of a doctoral program in Behavioral Sciences and Psychology with a transversal and multidisciplinary approach within our School of Life Sciences.
